The Problem in North America

Every day in the United States, fifty pastors leave the ministry. That's 1,600 a month! Some do so because of sin, others because of fatigue and burnout, and some simply because they've lost their way and forgotten their calling. Many struggle to find time to rest, choosing instead to work at an unsustainable pace - one which often leads to habits that are destructive to both body and soul.

And for those who recognize the symptoms of burnout and decide to take some time off, where are they to go? A recent survey of pastoral retreat centers in the United States revealed that most were quite "rustic" with programs that were either non-existent or therapy intensive. Is there no middle ground?

Our Solution

During the "high season," The Brook will operate as a retreat center for pastors and ministry professionals from North America. With a restoration and renewal program designed by pastors for pastors, The Brook will be unique among resorts. Some weeks will be focused on specific needs like marriage building, sustainability in ministry, emotional and physical health, with other weeks built around particular guest speakers or relevant topics.

The price paid for the experience will be all-inclusive and comes with the knowledge that with each registration, a Latin American pastor has been sponsored in our training program. Part of the registration fee will be tax-deductible.
