US Pastoral Renewal Conferences Journal

Our ministry to US pastors was born from the heartache of seeing many friends and fellow pastors quit the ministry. Pastoral couples need encouragement and course correction. Below are some stories from pastors we have assisted. If you would like to sponsor your pastor to attend a renewal conference, please contact us.

Sustainability in Ministry #1 - Stuart & Jill Briscoe
8/9/2011
Ten English-speaking pastoral couples and one single joined our team at Vista del Valle for our first Sustainability in Ministry conference with guest speakers, Stuart and Jill Briscoe. For a week, the group received excellent teaching, great food, worship with guest artist Rebecca Sehnert, and a variety of excursions.

Among the group were couples who had spent more than 40 years in ministry, and even one couple who had just started four months prior. Many were from the U.S., while others were from Costa Rica. The thing they had in common was an understanding of the stresses of ministry and a desire to operate at a more sustainable pace.

By the time the week was offer, tears were turned into laughter and stress had melted away. We rejoice that the Lord could use our ministry to bless such a diverse group.

Pastoral Couple Visit - Goulds
10/31/2010
Since they were unable to attend our scheduled January Sustainability in Ministry conference for U.S. pastors, we put together a custom experience for Dan and Stephanie Gould of Grace Community Church in Plano, Texas.

Dan and Stephanie are veteran youth ministers who have had the added difficulty of caring for two sons, one of whom was born with medical problems. So through the generosity of several church members, they were able to come to Costa Rica for some spiritual, emotional and physical renewal.

Ministry couples are why The Brook exists. We were blessed to care for Dan and Stephanie for a week. It was especially fun to take them on the San Luis Canopy Tour. Nothing like a zip line through the rain forest canopy to get the blood pumping!
